Seal Design’s PolyStone a lighter, cost-saving approach to solid surfaces

ELKHART, Ind. — Dicor Corporation affiliate Seal Design is now offering a new solid surface stone composite for RVs called PolyStone. It is a cast product that weighs considerably less than solid surface materials now used by RV manufacturers, while also reducing labor and other costs associated with hard surface products.

PolyStone accents any décor with a seamless, cut stone appearance that can be produced in 100 different colors with various sheens, including high-gloss, satin and matte. Typical granite and marble looks can be cast at a fraction of the cost of standard material and weigh 50 percent less, and 30 percent less than Corian, Karadon and other hard surfaces.

PolyStone can be can be used wherever such solid surface materials now occur, including countertops, tables, bathroom vanities, tub surrounds, and a variety of accent pieces and sinks.  Accordingly, PolyStone provides an excellent solution to RV builders looking to improve fuel mileage and unit towability without sacrificing quality design options.

Seal Design produces PolyStone in house through a custom molding process per manufacturer design requirements, with fast-turn prototype capabilities. It eliminates in-house labor, expensive material inventories and other costs associated with hard surface fabrication. Because of its cast surfacing, PolyStone is also easier to repair than hard surface material.

PolyStone is used in many markets, such as aircraft, residential and commercial décor, horse trailers, modular/mobile homes and specialty vehicles.

“We’re always looking for products from other industries that offer significant solutions for RV manufacturers,” said Greg Kelly. “This is great looking material that can reduce manufacturing costs while perfectly fitting the ‘lightening’ trend in RVs.”
